Day 1: Nairobi > Amboseli – The Kilimanjaro Backdrop
Your safari begins as you are met by your professional driver-guide in Nairobi. After a briefing, you'll drive south to Amboseli National Park (approx. 4-5 hours). Arrive in time for lunch at your lodge. Following check-in, you'll head out for your first game drive, focusing on the vast, dusty plains. On a clear day, the magnificent, snow-capped peak of Mount Kilimanjaro dominates the horizon.
Day 2: Full Day Amboseli – Elephant Kingdom
The entire day is dedicated to exploring Amboseli's unique ecosystem. You'll embark on early morning and afternoon game drives, maximizing your chances of seeing the iconic large herds of Elephants. You will visit the park's marshes and watering holes, where hippos and buffalo congregate. A climb up Observation Hill provides panoramic views of the entire park.
Day 3: Amboseli > Lake Naivasha – Rift Valley Oasis
After an early breakfast, you'll drive out of Amboseli, heading west and north across the Great Rift Valley. You'll arrive at the tranquil freshwater Lake Naivasha in time for lunch. The afternoon is reserved for a relaxing boat safari. Glide across the calm waters, getting close views of the large Hippo pods and witnessing the aerial skill of the majestic African Fish Eagles as they hunt.
Day 4: Lake Naivasha > Maasai Mara – The Plains Await
Following breakfast, you depart for the legendary Maasai Mara National Reserve. The landscape transforms into rolling savannah, marking your arrival at the world's most famous big cat territory. You will arrive at your camp for lunch and then head out for your crucial first afternoon game drive.
Days 5 & 6: Full Days of Action in Maasai Mara
You have two full days to immerse yourself in the Mara's exceptional biodiversity. Spend your time on extended game drives, tracking the Big Five and exploring the Mara River, home to resident hippos and crocodiles. If traveling between July and October, your focus will shift to witnessing the dramatic Great Migration crossings.
Day 7: Final Mara Drive & Return > Nairobi
Your final day begins with a last, emotionally charged early morning game drive — often the best time to see predators hunting. After a final camp breakfast, you check out and begin the drive back to Nairobi. You will be transferred directly to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport or your city hotel in the late afternoon for your onward travel arrangements.
