Day 1: Nairobi > Aberdare National Park – The Tree Hotel Experience
Your professional safari guide will meet you in Nairobi. After a briefing, you'll drive north towards the Aberdare Mountain Range. You will check in for lunch at a base hotel before transferring to your lodge inside the park, famously built overlooking a watering hole, such as The Ark Lodge or Treetops. This unique accommodation allows for game viewing directly from the safety of your balcony or deck.
Day 2: Aberdare's Forest Wonders & Night Viewing
The Aberdare ecosystem is distinct, featuring rainforests, moorland, and river valleys. Your day is dedicated to unique game viewing. Daytime: Explore the 'Salient' area for sightings of the rare Giant Forest Hog, the elusive Bongo antelope, as well as Elephants, Buffalo, and various primates. Nighttime: After dinner, the real magic begins as animals like Leopards, Hyenas, and Bushbucks emerge to drink at the floodlit waterhole below your lodge.
Day 3: Aberdare > Lake Nakuru – Valley of the Rhinos
After a final breakfast high in the Aberdares, you will travel south, descending into the floor of the Great Rift Valley. Your destination is Lake Nakuru National Park, a designated sanctuary for the Black and White Rhino. After a lakeside lunch, you will embark on an afternoon game drive. Nakuru is one of the most reliable places to see rhinos in Kenya, alongside Rothschild's Giraffes and prolific birdlife.
Day 4: Lake Nakuru > Maasai Mara – The Safari Icon
Following an early morning game drive in Nakuru, you depart for the world-renowned Maasai Mara National Reserve. This is a longer, scenic drive that traverses traditional Maasai country and the vast plains of the Great Rift Valley. You'll arrive at your luxury tented camp for lunch and settle in before heading out for your first afternoon game drive in the endless, golden savanna.
Days 5 & 6: Full Days in the Maasai Mara
You have two full days to immerse yourself in the heart of the African safari. The Maasai Mara's incredible wildlife density offers prime opportunities to track the Big Five. You may witness dramatic predator action, from Cheetahs sprinting after prey to the distant calls of Hyenas echoing across the plains. If traveling between July and October, your game drives will focus on the breathtaking Great Migration, where millions of Wildebeest and Zebra thunder across the grasslands and rivers.
Day 7: Final Mara Drive & Return > Nairobi
Enjoy a last, thrilling early morning game drive in the Mara to find any nocturnal animals before they retreat for the day. After a leisurely camp breakfast and check-out, you begin the journey back to Nairobi. You will be transferred directly to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport or your city hotel in the late afternoon, concluding your unforgettable safari adventure.
